For Now

Like the majority of undergraduate students at University, I am categorized as a part of the Millennial Generation, generally said to be “self-centered and entitled,” labels or descriptions given by the previous generation. Raised in an environment of saturated optimism for bright prospects, my generation has found the opposite to be the case, leading to feelings of frustration, disappointment, and a deep pessimism towards the present and future. My paintings look to highlight the experience felt by the thousands in higher education who find ourselves in unintended jobs during and after college. Indoctrinated in unrealistic expectations, many of us feel as if backed into a corner by limited options, constantly subjecting ourselves to critiques of ourselves and each other.
